PESHAWAR: A ceremony was held at the Provincial Headquarters of Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar to honor officers and officials who have recently been promoted. Secretary Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Sohail Khan and Additional Secretary Relief Zia-ur-Rehman attended the ceremony as special guests.

Upon their arrival, the distinguished guests were presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of Rescue 1122. Officers and officials also warmly welcomed the guests.

During the ceremony, Secretary Relief Sohail Khan and Director General Rescue 1122 Shah Fahad personally placed the new rank badges, or shoulder insignia, on the uniforms of the promoted officers and officials.

Under the decisions of the Departmental Promotion Committee, 27 officers and officials from different cadres were promoted on a regular basis. These include one Procurement Officer promoted to Deputy Director Procurement (BPS-18), seven Emergency Officers promoted to District Emergency Officer (BPS-18), and 19 Station House Incharges promoted to Emergency Officer (BPS-17).

Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Relief Sohail Khan congratulated the promoted officers and officials and appreciated the services of Rescue 1122 personnel. He said that Rescue 1122 staff serve the public with courage, determination and dedication even in the most difficult situations. He added that the government would continue taking steps for their professional growth and welfare.

He urged officers and officials to improve their professional skills through higher education, training courses and professional certifications. He said work would also be undertaken on a fast-track promotion mechanism to encourage personnel who acquire additional education and professional skills.

The Secretary Relief said that the genuine issues and other matters concerning Rescue 1122 personnel would be addressed on a priority basis. He stressed that merit, seniority and transparency would be ensured in promotions, postings and other departmental matters.

On the occasion, Director General Rescue 1122 Shah Fahad said that, in accordance with the clear directions of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Provincial Minister for Relief Department, the recruitment process in Rescue 1122 had been completed on the basis of merit and transparency.

The Director General said that the recently recruited batch would be counted among the best batches of Rescue 1122. He said it was one of the institution’s strongest merit-based recruitments, and the trained personnel would play an important role in providing timely, effective and professional emergency services to the public in the future.

He congratulated the promoted officers and officials and said that Rescue 1122 personnel serve the public in every difficult situation, often putting their own lives at risk. Their hard work, courage, sense of duty and professional services are a valuable asset to the organization.

The Director General said that measures for the welfare and professional development of personnel, as well as the resolution of their genuine issues, would continue. He urged the promoted officers and officials to perform their new responsibilities with greater dedication, commitment and professionalism.

The ceremony concluded with prayers and best wishes for the promoted officers and officials. The participants also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a modern, effective and professional emergency service.
