SWABI: A 57-year-old man drowned in Dubian Khwar in Swabi district, with his body recovered after a six-hour search and rescue operation, Rescue 1122 said.

According to Rescue 1122, the victim, identified as Shafiqur Rehman, 57, drowned in the stream. The incident was reported to the Rescue 1122 Swabi control room, following which a specialised diving team was dispatched to the site.

The rescue divers immediately launched a search and rescue operation to locate the missing man.

After conducting a continuous operation for six hours, the Rescue 1122 diving team recovered Shafiqur Rehman’s body from the water.

The body was subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities, according to Rescue 1122.

Flooding in Swabi: Water Enters multiple Homes, roads submerged

Meanwhile, heavy flooding has hit Swabi district after torrential rains, with water entering several homes and roads going underwater.

‎‎Local officials said that due to the sudden surge in water levels, multiple residential areas were inundated. Streets turned into streams as rainwater and runoff overwhelmed the drainage system, making movement difficult for residents.

‎‎Rescue teams and local administration have reached the affected areas to assess the damage. Work is underway to drain the water and provide relief to families whose homes have been flooded.

‎‎The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rain and windstorms in upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the weekend. NDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas.

‎‎Swabi is one of the flood-prone districts in central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It sits between the Kabul River and several seasonal streams that swell quickly during monsoon rains.
