PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched action against government employees found absent during an ongoing physical verification drive in the province’s tribal districts, with salaries and pensions of dozens of employees reportedly withheld pending verification.
According to sources, the physical verification process is being carried out for government employees of various grades serving in different departments across the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Notices were issued to employees concerned as part of the verification exercise. However, dozens of employees reportedly failed to appear despite being served notices, prompting the authorities to initiate departmental proceedings against them, sources said.
As an initial measure, payment of salaries and pensions to employees who remained absent during the physical verification has been stopped until they complete the verification process.
Sources said employees who fail to undergo physical verification may face further disciplinary action in the second phase, including termination from service.
The verification drive is aimed at identifying and confirming government employees who are genuinely serving and present on duty in the tribal districts, according to sources.
