BANNU:Doctors and clinical staff serving in three hospitals under the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) in Bannu have demanded protection of their service rights, warning that failure to address their concerns could lead to the closure of all three hospitals and legal action.
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Anwar Kamal, Dr. Inayat Wazir, Dr. Ayub Nawaz, Dr. Farooq, Dr. Ehsan, Dr. Naushaba, Dr. Irfan Wazir, Dr. Ikram Wazir, Dr. Javed and dozens of other doctors and paramedics said orders issued under notification No. MTI(BNU)BOG/773-2026 dated August 10, 2026 to send medical officers of grade 17 to 20, senior medical officers, principal medical officers and chief medical officers back to the Health Department have raised serious concerns about employees’ future and patient care.
The speakers said the legal status of approved posts, organogram, budget and service status of employees at District Headquarters Teaching Hospital and Women and Children Teaching Hospital must be clarified. They demanded that before relieving the affected doctors, their seniority, salary and allowances, promotions, career and other service rights be protected.
They added that the issue directly affects the public’s right to treatment in Bannu. A sudden shortage of experienced doctors and trained staff could disrupt emergency services, OPDs, wards and other medical facilities.
The doctors urged Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Health, relevant authorities and the Board of Governors of MTI Bannu to review the notification. They called for a review of all related government notifications, approved posts, organogram and budget records, and a clear legal decision on employees’ service status.
The protesters clarified that their demands were not against any institution, but were aimed at legal clarity, transparency, protection of legitimate employee rights and safeguarding patients’ interests.
They appealed to the government and Chairman BOG MTI Bannu Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood to formulate a clear and uniform policy for MTI Bannu, DHQ Teaching Hospital and Women and Children Teaching Hospital to remove administrative ambiguity and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for the public.
