ISLAMABAD: Preparations for Local Government (LG) elections in Punjab have gained momentum as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the provincial government to form a cabinet committee for consultations on the polling date.
A letter was issued to the Punjab chief secretary by the ECP, which said that it was necessary to constitute the cabinet committee before holding the consultation between the commission and the provincial government about the announcement of the polling date.
It is reported in the letter that a meeting for consultation will be held at the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad at 11am on August 20, 2026. The Punjab government will send the committee to the meeting.
