PESHAWAR: Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Muhammad Omer Bukhari, has declared that the state and security institutions are fully resolved to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from Pakistan, emphasizing that the sacrifices of martyrs and ghazis will not go in vain.
Addressing the Police Martyrs’ Day ceremony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Corps Commander welcomed the families of martyrs and ghazis, calling them the nation’s “special guests” and “benefactors.”
Highlighting that Pakistan has faced an imposed war on terror for over two decades, Lieutenant General Bukhari reiterated the commitment to achieving the ultimate objectives for which soldiers and citizens laid down their lives. Stressing that the threat demands collective action, he urged all state institutions and citizens to stand united like a “wall made of lead” to protect the country’s ideology, geography, and religious values, noting that Islam regards the killing of an innocent person as the killing of all humanity.
Detailing the heavy toll paid by security personnel in the line of duty, the Corps Commander shared staggering figures from the past two decades, including 6,500 officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, thousands of personnel from the Federal Constabulary and Frontier Corps, and thousands of police personnel, including 150 who embraced martyrdom this year alone.
Warning against the tactics of a “cunning enemy,” he stated that hostile elements are attempting to create rifts between the police and other security institutions. He firmly asserted that no institution can be separated from another and that the cowardly enemy will be collectively defeated, Inshallah. Praising the resilient spirit of the martyrs’ children, he noted that they remain deeply proud of their parents’ ultimate sacrifices and stand ready to defend the homeland.
Concluding his address, the Corps Commander underscored that Police Martyrs’ Day serves as a renewed pledge to accomplish the mission of lasting peace and security in the country as swiftly as possible.
