The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken notice of the participation of ex-national cricketers in the Asian Legends League held in Zambia and clarified that this league is not approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and action will be taken against the players participating in it as per the rules.
According to the PCB spokesperson, the ICC has declared the Asian Legends League as an unsanctioned event, in which case it was mandatory for any current or former Pakistani cricketer to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB before participating in the league.
The spokesperson warned that players participating in unsanctioned leagues without obtaining NOC from PCB may be disqualified for two years from any PCB programme, activity or any position or responsibility in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The PCB said it is committed to fully implementing the ICC rules and protecting the integrity of the game. The Board is in close contact with other member cricket boards and the ICC to ensure effective implementation of international rules.
According to the spokesperson, ICC has given clear instructions to all member boards that their players should obtain NOC from their respective home boards before participating in any overseas cricket event.
These rules also place an obligation on member boards to take appropriate disciplinary action against players participating in unsanctioned events.
PCB’s big decision, entry of two new teams in grade one departmental cricket
The PCB further warned that if any member board fails to take action in such cases, ICC may also take action against the concerned board as per the rules.
