ISLAMABAD: A ceremony was held at the Motorway Police Headquarters to mark Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Police Pakistan, honoring police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan attended as the Chief Guest. Along with IG Motorway Police Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, he laid floral wreaths at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha.
Addressing the gathering at the National Highway & Motorway Police Auditorium, Abdul Aleem Khan paid tribute to the martyrs and said August 4 is a significant day in national history.
”The great martyrdom of Safwat Ghayur is a guiding light for all security forces,” the minister said.
”The sacrifices of 59 Motorway Police martyrs and all other martyrs are unforgettable.”
The minister announced new steps for the protection of patrolling officers, including the establishment of modern police stations, parking facilities, and ambulance services near toll plazas.
Abdul Aleem Khan said NHA’s revenue has more than doubled, rising from Rs. 64 billion in 2024 to over Rs. 127 billion in 2026.
”Due to financial self-sufficiency, we are now building a network of highways with our own resources, without foreign aid,” he added.
