ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday reduced the price of kerosene oil by Rs3.58 per litre, extending relief to consumers days after lowering the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene has been revised downward from Rs305.22 to Rs301.64 per litre with immediate effect.
The latest adjustment follows last week’s reduction in the prices of major petroleum products, which the government attributed to changes in international oil prices.
Under the previous revision, the price of petrol was cut by Rs4.08 per litre to Rs331.95, while high-speed diesel became cheaper by Rs2.45 per litre, bringing its price down to Rs389.93 per litre. The revised rates came into effect on Aug 4.
Kerosene continues to be an essential household fuel in many remote and mountainous regions of the country, where it is commonly used for cooking, heating and by small businesses. The latest price cut is expected to ease the financial burden on consumers who depend on the fuel.
The government directed oil marketing companies and retail outlets to implement the revised kerosene price immediately.
