PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain, wind and thundershowers with scattered heavy falls in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
According to PMD, rain-wind and thundershowers are expected in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, DI Khan, Karak, Tank, Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur and Battagram. This spell is likely to continue from July 31 to August 4 across the province.
PMD has warned that heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Peshawar and Nowshera from July 30 to August 4. The department also cautioned that landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper KP, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Haripur and Abbottabad, from July 30 to August 5.
Flash floods are also possible in local streams and nullahs during the forecast period. The Met Office further said that heavy rains, windstorms and lightning may damage weak structures including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards. Tourists and travelers have been advised to remain cautious in hilly areas of KP while farmers have been urged to plan crop activities in accordance with the weather and ensure proper care of livestock.
For the next three months, PMD said KP and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to receive normal to slightly above-normal rainfall during July to September 2026, with above-normal temperatures expected across the province.
