SWAT: A joint police operation against militants is underway in the Shalkho Sar area of Swat under the direct supervision of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand and the District Police Officers (DPOs) of Swat and Upper Swat, police said on Tuesday.
According to the Swat Police, the operation involves personnel from Swat Police, Upper Swat Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and is being carried out under a coordinated strategy aimed at eliminating militant elements from the area.
A police spokesperson said the operation has inflicted significant losses on the militants, claiming that several were killed while many others sustained injuries. The spokesperson added that security personnel have surrounded the militants and continue to conduct search and clearance operations in the area.
Police said efforts are ongoing to clear the region of militant presence, with further action continuing against those still hiding in the area.
During the exchange of fire, Elite Force constable Gulfam embraced martyrdom while displaying exceptional bravery, according to the police.
Paying tribute to the martyred officer, the Swat Police said his sacrifice reflected the force’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and maintaining law and order in the region.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that operations would continue to ensure public safety and eliminate terrorism, adding that the police would not hesitate to make any sacrifice in the line of duty.
Police said updates on the security situation and the progress of the operation would be shared as further information becomes available.
