ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman in a deadly attack in Balochistan’s Mastung district, issuing a condolence message on behalf of the country’s judiciary.
In his statement, the Chief Justice extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families, saying that the slain judge and his security guard laid down their lives in the line of duty while serving the cause of justice.
He prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, forgiveness for the departed souls, and strength and patience for their families during this difficult time.
Justice Afridi also wished a swift and complete recovery to Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and the Judicial Magistrate, who were injured in the attack.
As a mark of solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the district judiciary of Balochistan, the Chief Justice announced that the Judicial Wellbeing Conference, scheduled for July 25, 2026, has been postponed.
Reaffirming the judiciary’s commitment to the rule of law, Justice Afridi said Pakistan’s courts would continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without fear or intimidation, stressing that acts of violence and threats would not weaken the resolve of the judiciary to uphold justice and the rule of law.
