Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, on Sunday inaugurated a mobile registration van in Mansehra to facilitate the registration of eligible beneficiaries in remote and underserved areas.
The mobile registration service aims to bring BISP’s registration facilities directly to the doorsteps of deserving families who face difficulties accessing programme offices.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Khalid said extending BISP services to every eligible and deserving household remained the programme’s top priority.
During her visit to the BISP office in Mansehra, she met with women beneficiaries to hear their concerns and review issues related to the programme. She also briefed them on the newly introduced digital wallet system and the use of the Benazir mobile SIM.
The BISP chairperson reviewed the distribution of Benazir mobile SIMs and the activation of digital wallets, through which financial assistance will be transferred directly into the accounts of eligible women beneficiaries.
She said beneficiaries would be able to withdraw their payments at their convenience from authorised retailers.
She advised women to obtain the free Benazir mobile SIM only from BISP offices and to bring their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone when visiting the office.
Senator Khalid also urged beneficiaries not to hand over their mobile phones to agents or retailers while collecting payments.
She advised them to immediately report any unauthorised deductions, irregularities or complaints to the nearest BISP office or through the programme’s official complaints mechanism.
