QUETTA: Eight militants were killed during a security forces’ sanitisation operation in the Khad Koocha area of Mastung district after armed assailants opened fire on troops, according to security officials.

Officials said the forces were conducting a clearance operation when militants allegedly linked to Fitna al-Hindustan launched an attack. Security personnel responded immediately, resulting in the deaths of eight militants, while several others reportedly fled the area.

Following the operation, security forces completed the sanitisation process and declared the area fully cleared, the officials said.

Authorities also rejected what they described as false and misleading claims circulating on social media in the aftermath of the operation.

According to officials, fabricated allegations were being spread online in an attempt to mislead the public and undermine the success of the operation.

They maintained that the forces carried out the operation in a professional manner and successfully cleared the area of militant presence.
