ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a Special Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) for students seeking admission to Commonwealth and Chinese Government Scholarship programs for postgraduate studies abroad.

According to HEC, the special test will be compulsory for the students applying for scholarships at MS/MPhil and PhD levels in the two internationally acclaimed scholarship programmes.

Online application for the Special HAT Test will start from July 19, 2026 and will continue till August 3, 2026.

According to the HEC, the examination will be held on August 30, 2026 and will be supervised by the HEC Education Testing Council (ETC).

In an official statement, the HEC has made it clear that the special examination will be a must for all those candidates applying for the Commonwealth and Chinese Government Scholarships.

The candidates have been requested to register themselves online through the HEC portal and follow its instructions very carefully.

As per information from the HEC, the special test will be aimed at measuring the aptitude of the candidates.

The Commonwealth and Chinese Government scholarships provide Pakistani students with opportunities to pursue master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees in a wide range of academic disciplines at internationally recognized universities.

The HEC urged prospective applicants to stay updated with official announcements and complete all required formalities within the prescribed timeline.
