LAHORE: As the ICC T20 World Cup is only a few months away, the Pakistan cricket team is expected to undergo some major changes, which might even include a change in captaincy at the top, according to local media reports.

According to reports, Salman Ali Agha reportedly came under scrutiny from the higher authorities after a disappointing outing in the recently concluded Asia Cup, where both his batting as well as captaincy were questioned from all sides.

He only managed to score 72 runs in 7 innings in the Asia Cup, at a disappointing average of just 12 and a strike rate of 80 when he got out to unnecessary shots far too regularly. The selectors appear to be seriously considering replacing him as T20I captain before 2026 World Cup. The three-match T20I and three-match ODI series will get underway later this month.

Selectors are reported to be weighing the return of veteran players along with the inclusion of new players in the national team. There will be 2 to 3 team changes, and performance, experience, and World Cup planning are reported to be a few of the key criteria.

The first match between Pakistan and South Africa of the T20I series will be held in Rawalpindi on October 28, which follows the two-test series between the two nations.
