PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, wind-thunderstorms and isolated heavy downpours in several upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 10 and 11, while hot to very hot weather is expected to continue in plain areas.

According to the latest weather advisory, districts including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Malakand, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar and nearby hilly areas are likely to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls at a few locations.

In contrast, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and other southern and central districts are expected to experience hot to very hot weather, with daytime temperatures likely to remain between 40°C and 42°C.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rainfall in upper districts may trigger localized flash floods in streams and nullahs, as well as landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas. Residents and tourists have been advised to remain cautious during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Authorities have also urged the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours in the plains, stay hydrated and take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The PMD said it is closely monitoring the weather system and advised citizens to follow official forecasts and advisories for the latest updates.
