NORTH WAZIRISTAN (Shaker Khan): Residents of Razmak, a renowned tourist destination in North Waziristan, have staged a protest against the severe shortage of safe drinking water, urging the authorities to take immediate action to address the long-standing issue.

Local residents said that despite Razmak’s popularity for its scenic landscapes and pleasant climate, the area continues to lack one of the most basic necessities access to clean drinking water.

They claimed that many families are forced to travel several kilometres to fetch water or rely on contaminated streams and natural water sources, exposing them to serious health risks.

The protesters criticized the provincial government for what they described as a lack of meaningful efforts to resolve the crisis.

Chanting slogans, they demanded the immediate launch of water supply schemes and the construction of water storage tanks to provide a sustainable solution to the shortage.

Community elders warned that if the issue remains unresolved, it will not only worsen public health concerns but also undermine tourism in the region.

They argued that the absence of basic civic facilities at one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s well-known tourist destinations raises serious questions about infrastructure and public service delivery.

The residents appealed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the relevant authorities to take urgent notice of the situation and ensure the provision of safe drinking water to alleviate the hardships faced by the local population.
