ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly criticised claims made by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) regarding responsibility for the killing of a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer in Islamabad, dismissing the group’s assertions as unreliable and self-serving.
In a post on social media platform X, the defence minister said the TTP’s objective was merely to claim credit for violent incidents, adding that the group had no regard for truth, morality or responsibility.

He further suggested that the group’s pattern of statements reflected an attempt to gain publicity, warning that such claims lacked credibility.
Asif also expressed concern that, in the future, such groups might even attempt to claim responsibility for unrelated criminal activity, including theft and robbery, in order to attract attention.
The minister’s remarks came after reports circulated online in which the TTP claimed responsibility for the killing of a PAF officer in Islamabad.
The banned outfit has been involved in multiple attacks across the country, and its claims are frequently disputed by officials.
