TEHRAN: Iran has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its diplomatic role, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei saying the strong bond between the two neighboring countries reflects a longstanding relationship built on mutual trust and respect.

Speaking to the media, Baghaei said the affection between the people and governments of Iran and Pakistan is reciprocal, adding that Tehran’s willingness to accept Pakistan’s mediation was a reflection of that trust.

“The love between Pakistan and Iran is mutual. If this mutual affection did not exist, Iran would never have accepted Pakistan’s mediation,” Baghaei said.

He also thanked the Government of Pakistan and its people for the role played by Islamabad, describing the bilateral relationship as one that would continue to remain strong.

“We thank Pakistan’s government and its people for the role played by Pakistan. The bilateral affection between Pakistan and Iran will always endure,” the spokesperson added.

Baghaei’s remarks underscore the close diplomatic ties between the neighbouring countries, which have maintained regular engagement on regional and bilateral issues.
