SWAT: The bodies of six people who died in a boat accident at Saifullah Lake in Upper Swat have been handed over to their families after completion of legal formalities and sent to Lahore, according to spokesperson Saeed-ur-Rehman of the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA).
One woman is still missing, and search operations started early this morning at 5 a.m. in efforts to find her, officials informed.
Joint rescue efforts are taking place through Rescue 1122, Upper Swat Development Authority, Swat Police, Tourism Police, district administration, and volunteers, said the spokesman.
According to initial reports, the accident happened when the boat went out of safety limits, and then the engine or generator stopped working causing loss of control.
A case has been registered against the owner of the boat in police station, and efforts are being made to arrest the person.
It was told that in this regard, both Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chief Secretary have ordered an investigation into the accident and strict legal action against those found negligent in the matter.
Operators violating the safety SOPs will face legal action under the law, the spokesman added.
