LAHORE: Another tragic incident has occurred in Lahore following the recent Kahna tragedy, after the roof of a private school collapsed during construction work in the city’s Baghbanpura area. A 10-year-old boy was killed and four construction workers were injured, while all other children attending a summer camp at the school escaped unharmed.

The rescue officials confirmed that after getting information about the collapse, the rescue teams arrived at the spot and rescued the trapped people. The injured were shifted to the hospital for medical care.

The hospital authorities confirmed the death of 10-year-old Abu Bakr while the rest were admitted to the hospital for their injuries.

It seems that a construction was going on to increase the size of the school when a part of the roof of the building collapsed. There was a summer camp taking place at that time with many children in the school premises.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse, including whether construction safety regulations were followed.

The incident comes just days after the deadly Kahna Road tragedy, where the roof of a tuition center collapsed during renovation work. According to officials, the structure failed after excessive weight was placed on weakened steel girders, causing tons of debris to fall onto students inside the building. Fourteen children lost their lives in that incident, which prompted renewed concerns over the enforcement of building safety standards at educational institutions.
