The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a notice advising users to ensure their WhatsApp accounts are linked to an active and properly registered SIM card.

The PTA has stated that WhatsApp accounts connected to inactive, blocked, deactivated, or unregistered SIMs may soon become inaccessible.

They emphasized the importance of linking WhatsApp to a valid SIM to protect users’ contacts, messages, and overall digital identity.

Users are urged to verify immediately that their WhatsApp number is connected to an active and functional SIM. If their current SIM is inactive, they should promptly transfer their WhatsApp account to a new verified SIM.

The PTA also recommends that users visit the nearest franchise or customer service center for assistance, where they can complete biometric verification and SIM authentication processes.

Additionally, the authority cautioned users not to wait for unexpected account logouts, as a mobile number serves not only as a communication tool but also as a crucial component of a user’s digital identity.
