LAHORE: The 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is likely to begin on March 19, 2027, with the final proposed for May 2, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to formally announce the final schedule after taking the franchise owners into confidence.

Sources said broadcasters had initially pushed for the league to begin in January to facilitate sponsorship arrangements, while franchise owners had preferred an April window.

The PCB has now proposed March 19 as the start date, with May 2 being considered for the final.

The tournament is being planned after the expected start of Ramadan on February 8, allowing the league to take place after the holy month.

However, PSL 12 is once again expected to overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which could potentially be held from March 10 to May 15.

The two leagues have faced scheduling clashes in previous years as well. According to sources, the overlap did not have a significant impact on PSL television ratings, with Pakistani fans continuing to show strong interest in the tournament.

Officials are hopeful that the upcoming edition will also receive a strong response from cricket fans.

Foreign Players in Focus

Several overseas players who are not expected to participate in the IPL could be available for PSL 12, according to sources.

The date for the players’ auction has not yet been finalised, but some franchises have reportedly begun contacting foreign stars.

Sources said several prominent overseas players could potentially make their PSL debut in the upcoming season. Discussions regarding foreign players are currently progressing slowly but are expected to accelerate once the league dates are officially announced.

The PCB is also expected to finalise the venues and other administrative arrangements for PSL 12 soon.

The proposed dates remain subject to formal approval and announcement by the PCB.
