QUETTA: A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Balochistan, damaging more than 35 houses in Musakhel district and injuring at least six people, including women and children.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Musakhel, several individuals were injured after walls and roofs collapsed during the tremors. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Rescue and relief teams, led by the Assistant Commissioner, have been dispatched to the affected areas to assess the damage and assist residents.

The earthquake was also felt in surrounding districts including Zhob, Barkhan, Rakni, Kohlu and nearby regions, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes reciting prayers.

The Seismological Center reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 17 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Kohlu.

Officials said earlier tremors were also recorded in Kohlu and adjoining areas on the same day, with a magnitude of 5.0, while another 4.2 magnitude quake was felt in Sibi and surrounding regions earlier in the morning.

Authorities confirmed that no fatalities have been reported so far, but monitoring and relief operations are continuing as assessments of damage are underway.
