Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will participate in the high-level talks on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding being held in Burgenstock, Switzerland today (Sunday).

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Zurich along with his delegation earlier today. According to the PM Office Media Wing, upon his arrival in Zurich, the prime minister was received by Ambassador Marcus Leitner, Director General of the Swiss Foreign Office.

Technical talks between the United States and Iran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are set to begin today in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, with officials from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar taking part in the discussions. The meeting is aimed at advancing the implementation of commitments outlined in the agreement signed by Washington and Tehran.

These talks mark the first formal engagement after the signing of the Islamabad MoU on 17 June 2026. Pakistan will continue to support and advance the implementation of the understandings reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.
In the sidelines of the talks, the Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral interactions with the participating delegations from Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar, Switzerland and the United States, to reaffirm Pakistan’s enduring commitment to dialogue and durable peace in the region.

Meanwhile, the White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are in Switzerland, where the first round of talks with Iran on a potential nuclear deal is expected to take place on Sunday, US officials told the media. Vice President Vance is expected to travel to Switzerland to participate in the negotiations.

Likewise, Iranian delegates have reached Switzerland for technical-level talks. According to the Swiss Foreign Ministry, the Iranian delegation was welcomed upon arrival in Switzerland.

The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, senior security official Ali Bagheri Kani, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, diplomat Kazem Gharibabadi and Foreign Ministry spokesman.
