MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has taken strict administrative action against 154 members and leaders of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), officials said on Thursday.
According to official sources, the individuals have been placed under the Fourth Schedule, a legal category associated with monitoring individuals considered a security concern. As part of the measures, authorities have reportedly frozen national identity cards, bank accounts, and passport facilities of those listed.
Officials said the action is part of ongoing security and administrative measures aimed at maintaining law and order in the region.
Leaked Call: Banned AJK Action Committee planned hospital, road closures
Earlier, an audio call between the banned committee’s leaders, Advocate Shah Nawaz and Majid Ali, containing a plan to spread chaos, has come to light, in which both leaders are heard planning anti-state activities, including closing roads and hospitals.
According to the leaked audio call, the banned Action Committee is involved in forced strikes, road closures, vandalism of properties, and attacks on law enforcement officials in various cities of Azad Kashmir.
In the audio, both the leaders can be heard conspiring to further worsen the situation and intimidate the law enforcement agencies. One leader also instructs the other to incite the public through provocative slogans. The audio leak also contains clear evidence of the banned committee not arresting people who voluntarily made arrests and inciting them against the state.
According to experts, due to the illegal activities of the banned Action Committee, which is working on foreign orders, the citizens of Azad Kashmir have now recognized the true nature of this group.
Security sources say that evidence of the banned committee’s involvement in large-scale disruptive activities is becoming clear with each passing day. The administration has appealed to the citizens not to be misled by such elements who are trying to harm the peace and order in the region.
