ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, in collaboration with US partners, has announced applications for the US-Pak Knowledge Corridor PhD Scholarship Program. The program invites candidates to enroll in GRE General Training sessions, aimed at providing talented students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir the opportunity to pursue PhD studies at top US universities.
According to the HEC statement, the training programs will be held in Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta and Lahore. Applicants should possess at least 16 years of education with a good academic background.
The maximum age for applications from government/public sector faculty members will be 40 while for others it will be 35. Applicants who pass the GRE training and obtain a score above 300 marks in the ETS exam will qualify for a refund of the course fees. Furthermore, applicants with excellent performance may be eligible for a scholarship from prestigious universities in the US.

HEC dismisses reports of data leak
Earlier, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has refuted the alleged reports of a data leak and termed them baseless attempts at disinformation.
The Higher Education Commission issued a clarification statement following reports on social media about data leaks from the database and refuted the claims.
The HEC statement clarified that the claims of a data breach are unfounded and false, affirming that no such breach occurred and the database remains completely safe and secure.
It said that after an immediate investigation by the HEC’s Cyber Security Operation Centre, it has become clear that the alleged leaked sample records circulating online do not belong to the HEC’s Degree Attestation system.
The HEC, in its statement, appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified, misleading, and baseless information.
