PESHAWAR:  Secretary Climate Change and Environment, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Khan, has said that environmental protection is the guarantee of a bright and secure future for future generations.

Commemorating World Environment Day in Peshawar, he said that the environment is the top priority of the government. Junaid Khan said that protecting the environment, forests, wildlife, and natural resources is among the top priorities of the provincial government.

He said that effective steps are underway to make the vision of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” environmentally safe and climate change-friendly. Public participation is indispensable.

The Secretary of Climate Change emphasized that government measures alone are not enough to address environmental challenges; public participation is indispensable. He said that every citizen should pledge to plant a tree, avoid wastage of water and energy, and keep the environment clean.

Survival Junaid Khan said that trees are not only the beauty of the earth but also the guarantor of human survival, ecological balance, and a prosperous future. “A strong connection with nature is the foundation of sustainable development, a healthy society, and a safe environment.”

According to the Department of Climate Change, air and water pollution and climate change have become major threats to the world. Collective action is the need of the hour. The protection of the forests, rivers, mountains, and wildlife of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a national trust and a shared responsibility.

The Secretary appealed to the public: “Protection of nature is actually the protection of the future of our generations. Let’s play our role together for a green and prosperous Pakistan.”
