ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued hot and dry weather across most parts of the country next week, warning that severe heat conditions are likely to persist in several regions..
As per the weather alert, weak moisture-laden winds are continuing to move towards northeastern and eastern regions of Punjab, whereas a weather system is prevailing in the upper region. These conditions are going to continue for the next 36 hours.
Met Office informed that during the forthcoming week, most regions in the country are expected to witness hot and dry weather, whereas severe heat waves are likely to prevail in Sindh, eastern and southern Balochistan, and plain regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Furthermore, it was mentioned in the forecast that on May 31, heat waves are likely in Sindh, southern and eastern Balochistan, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whereas isolated regions of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and Potohar region may witness showers along with winds.
On June 1, weather experts have predicted that hot and dry weather will prevail throughout most of Pakistan, while dust storms and precipitation are likely in southern Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, and northeastern Sindh.
The department also added that from June 3 onwards, there is an expectation of showers along with thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northeastern Balochistan, and upper Punjab. Similarly, weather conditions like these are also likely to persist in other northern and upper areas of the country on June 4 and June 5.
Citizens have been asked by authorities to adopt precautions due to the ongoing heatwave in Pakistan.
