TIMERGARA: At least three people were killed, and 8 others were injured in separate motorcycle accidents in Lower Dir during Eid Holidays, a police official said.

A spike was seen in motorcycle accidents in various parts of Lower Dir over the last two days. According to the police official, three motorcyclists were killed, and eight others were injured due to reckless driving.

Young boys riding motorcycles, performing stunts such as one-wheeling, and not wearing helmets have been identified as major causes of accidents during the Eid holidays.

According to rescue sources and local hospitals, several injured individuals have been transported to various medical centres, with some reported to be in critical condition. The accidents that occurred in different areas have raised serious concerns among parents, and citizens are demanding stricter enforcement of traffic rules.

Residents report that during Eid, young people often ride motorcycles recklessly on highways and in markets, endangering both their lives and those of others. Citizens are urging parents not to allow young children to ride motorcycles and are advising young riders to take necessary precautions.

Experts state that wearing helmets, controlling speed, adhering to traffic rules, and avoiding overloading can significantly help in saving lives. Public advocates are calling on traffic police to initiate a special campaign during Eid and other festivals to raise awareness among youth and help reduce the rising number of accidents.
