PESHAWAR: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, 254 prisoners held in minor cases were released from Peshawar Central Jail and other jails across the province.

In light of the directives of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice S.M. Atique Shah, all District and Sessions Judges and Judicial Magistrates across the province conducted special visits to jails before Eid-ul-Azha 2026.

The purpose of these visits was to expedite the disposal of minor cases in accordance with the law.

During the visits, District and Sessions Judges and Judicial Magistrates disposed of a total of 252 minor cases related to various offenses. As a result, orders were issued to release 254 prisoners involved in such cases from different jails after providing them legal relief.

This step reflects the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring the rule of law and enabling the timely delivery of justice. According to the High Court administration, the purpose of these measures is to provide relief to deserving individuals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Chief Justice appreciated the hard work, dedication, and responsible discharge of duties by all judicial officers involved in the process, which also helped reduce overcrowding in jails.

Eidul Azha prayer times announced across major mosques in Peshawar

Meanwhile, the district administration Peshawar, along with various mosque committees, has announced the timings for Eid prayers.

Eid prayers will be held at 6:30 am in several key locations, including the main Eidgah on Charsadda Road, Mahabat Khan Mosque, Qasim Ali Khan Mosque, and Abuzar Bahadur Kale Mosque.

Additionally, prayers will take place at 6:45 am at the following mosques: Jamia Masjid Kala Moishe Mandi, Jamia Masjid Hayakhel Hazarkhawani, Bilal Jogyan Mosque, Arbaban Tehkal Bala Mosque, and Markazi Jamia Masjid Gul Badshah Wadpaga.

For those in other areas of Peshawar, Eid prayers will be offered at 7:00 am at Darwesh Masjid, Bagh Naran Hayatabad, Sunehri Masjid Sadr, Bilal Afridi Abad Mosque, and Bilal Tehkal Mosque. Notably, the Bilal Tehkal Mosque will begin its prayers earlier, at 6:00 am.

In accordance with Fiqh Jafariya, different prayer times have also been set. Eid prayers will be at 7:00 am in Jamia Masjid Kocha Risaldar, Haseena Hall Peshawar Sadr, and Imamia Masjid Asia Peshawar. Prayers at Imamia Masjid Hayatabad are scheduled for 7:15 am.
