PESHAWAR (Muhammad Ijaz Afridi): A 10-year-old boy drowned in the river near Kund Park, a picnic point in Nowshera, the Rescue 1122 official said on Thursday.

According to the Rescue 1122, the drowned boy had come to the park to swim when strong currents swept him away.

He said after hectic efforts by their diving team, the body was recovered; however, the boy was dead.

The drowned child was identified as Atif, a resident of Peshawar city who had gone to the Park for Eid celebrations.

He was moved to a nearby hospital where the doctors at the emergency centre pronounced him dead.

Under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Nowshera Malik Ashfaq Hussain, rescue personnel and divers at various water rescue points, including Kund Park, are on alert to deal with all kinds of emergencies.
