Secretary Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, on the special instructions of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, inaugurated Awam Express of Pakistan Railways in a simple but dignified ceremony at Peshawar Railway Station.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Secretary Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah on the special instructions of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, while former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi was also present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, the Secretary of Railways and Shahid Afridi took a detailed look at the modern facilities provided in the upgraded train. The Awam Express has been brought into line with modern requirements, providing on-board Wi-Fi, comfortable seats, an improved travel environment, and other quality facilities so that passengers can have a safe, calm, and pleasant journey.
On this occasion, Shahid Afridi also inaugurated a modern cold water filtration plant at Peshawar Railway Station, which will provide better facilities of clean and cold water to the daily commuters. Talking to the media, the Secretary of Railways said that the upgraded Awam Express is an Eid gift from Pakistan Railways to the people of Peshawar.
He said that on the directions of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the inauguration ceremony was kept simple and short. The Secretary of Railways reiterated the commitment that Pakistan Railways will continue its reform and development efforts to provide modern, safe, and quality travel facilities to passengers across the country.
