ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that an important positive development is expected for the international community within the next 24 to 48 hours regarding Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Iran.

Rana Sanaullah made this statement during a televised talk show that the future developments concerning the visit would carry a “good message” for the international community as diplomatic work among many parties was being carried out.

Moreover, he further stated that a ceremony for signing a deal between the US and Iran would take place in Islamabad as they have devised an overall framework while some problems would be sorted out later.

According to him, the main concerns of Iran included the lift of the sanction regime and unfreezing of assets, and discussions would be held later after reaching an understanding from the policy level.

Discussing domestic politics, Rana Sanaullah added that there was no plan for introducing the 28th constitutional amendment at the moment because consensus needed to be built for reforms in local government, health, and population sectors.

US-Iran peace agreement reportedly in final stages

Meanwhile, a US newspaper has claimed that the United States and Iran are close to finalizing a draft peace agreement aimed at ending hostilities, with a formal announcement potentially expected within the next 24 hours.

The report was published by The Washington Times, which claims that a draft for a comprehensive peace settlement agreement has already been agreed upon by key representatives from both parties.

Moreover, the report, citing unverified sources, says that the draft has been already agreed upon in preliminary negotiations by US vice president J.D. Vance, head of the Iranian parliament and speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, American diplomat Steve Witkoff, and advisor to US president Jared Kushner.

Finally, the report suggests that the draft will now be sent to relevant authorities for final signing while officials from both countries may make an official announcement regarding the draft agreement within the day.

The report further notes that diplomatic efforts had brought an agreement to several new proposals designed to bring an end to all ongoing hostilities between the US and Iran.

Neither US nor Iranian officials have publicly confirmed the existence of a finalized agreement at the time of publication.
