Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has strongly criticized the restrictions on journalists and the new government strategy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that when the government has nothing left to defend its performance, it starts attacking the media.
The federal minister shared a video of “Pakhtun Digital” on the social media platform X (Twitter) in which Chief Minister Sohail Afridi gives a controversial order to take legal action against those criticizing officers and ministers within 3 days.
In his tweet, Attaullah Tarar expressed deep concern over the current situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that the people of the province are asking serious questions today. He raised the question of why people want to know why terrorism is increasing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Why are development projects stalled? Why is investment not coming, and why is the youth of the province stumbling in search of employment?
The Federal Minister said that instead of answering these bitter questions, blaming journalists, and creating a circle around them is actually an escape from reality. He clarified that the media does not create problems but only brings the facts to the public.
Attaullah Tarar further said that a true democratic leadership always responds to criticism with facts and performance, not with bullying and revenge.
