ISLAMABAD: Russia has reiterated its support for Pakistan’s mediation role amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, the Russian ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khuroyev.
The ambassador stated that Russia is in favor of a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two countries and welcomes any action that helps solve their problems.
Khuroyev also responded to news that had appeared in Pakistani newspapers concerning the recruitment of individuals from Pakistan by Russia. According to the ambassador, such claims were not only baseless but also contradictory since the individual referred to had not sought a visa from the Russian Embassy in Islamabad. An investigation was already being carried out.
While commenting on the coverage of the war in Ukraine by the media, the ambassador noted that while much news was written about deaths and destruction in Ukraine, there was no information regarding the loss suffered by Russia in the war. “Russia is ready to achieve its goals in Ukraine whatever the conditions are,” he stated.
