SWAT: Earthquake tremors were felt in the Swat and Malakand region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing fear and panic among the residents, no losses to human and property were reported.
According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the tremors of the earthquake were clearly felt in Swat, Malakand, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Chitral, and Shangla, as well as many other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their surrounding areas. The tremors were so severe that people came out of their homes, shops, and offices in fear, reciting the Kalima Tayyaba and seeking forgiveness.
According to the National Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 4.9 on the Richter scale, while its depth was 130 kilometres below the ground and its epicentre was the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan.
According to initial reports from relief agencies and local administrations, due to the depth of the earthquake, no reports of any loss of life or property have been received from any area so far. However, Rescue 1122 and the local administration have been instructed to remain alert to deal with any emergency.
It should be remembered that the Hindu Kush region is considered highly earthquake-sensitive, where such earthquakes occur frequently due to the movement of underground tectonic plates.
