The Israeli army arrested Prominent Pakistani Philanthropist Saad Edhi while on his way through the Gaza Samud flotilla from Turkey toward Gaza.
Saad Edhi has issued an emergency message from the Global Sumud Flotilla, saying the aid mission was being intercepted at sea during its voyage towards Gaza. In a statement shared on social media, Saad Edhi said the flotilla had issued a “Mayday” distress call, warning that communication could be disrupted.
“We are being intercepted at sea. This may be our last update for now,” the message said. Saad Edhi had gone to Turkey a few days ago, where he bought relief goods (rations, medicines, and baby milk) for the oppressed brothers and sisters of Gaza.
He boarded the aid ship “Global Sumud Flotilla” that departed from the Turkish city of Marmaris on Wednesday night. According to a recent statement by the Edhi Foundation, Saad Edhi is currently on the same ship, and this peaceful mission is heading towards Gaza. He is completely safe and is not in Israeli custody.
A few days ago, an old aid flotilla of the same organization was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters, and some Pakistanis, including former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, were temporarily detained and later released and sent to Turkey.
