PESHAWAR: A three-day Hunar Mela showcasing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s culture, traditional crafts and local craftsmanship started at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar, drawing participation from artisans across the province.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums, the festival aims to promote local talent and provide a platform for the preservation and display of traditional handicrafts.

Tourism Authority spokesperson Muhammad Saad said the event features a variety of stalls displaying handicrafts, traditional dresses and local cuisine, attracting large numbers of visitors.

Special activities for families and children, including a play area, magic shows and quiz competitions, have also been arranged to provide both entertainment and awareness opportunities for participants.

The festival was inaugurated by Director General Tourism Authority Shahid Khan. Cultural performances presented during the opening ceremony included comedy skits, cooking competitions and traditional food exhibitions.

The spokesperson further said a special drama promoting cultural harmony among all four provinces will also be staged during the festival, highlighting the message of unity and inter-provincial cohesion.

A large number of women and families are attending the event, while entry has been kept free of charge to encourage maximum public participation in the cultural activity.
