PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the release of a multi-million rupee relief package for families displaced from North Waziristan and Khost, targeting over 17,700 affected households with a combination of cash grants and essential food supplies.

According to a formal directive issued by the authority, a total of Rs 718.635 million has been sanctioned to cover the financial arrears for the months of July and August 2025. The relief strategy is designed to provide immediate economic cushioning to 17,788 verified families who continue to grapple with the hardships of displacement.

Under the approved disbursement plan, each registered family is entitled to a monthly cash stipend of Rs 12,120. In addition to this liquidity support, the PDMA has earmarked a monthly food ration package valued at Rs 8,000 per household. To ensure the integrity of the process and eliminate middleman interference, the authorities have opted for a digital payment system, transferring funds directly to the beneficiaries via mobile SIM cards.

The PDMA letter clarified that the current allocation is strictly reserved for the two months of July and August 2025. In an effort to maintain fiscal discipline, the authority has mandated that any undistributed funds, along with associated service charges, must be deposited back into the provincial treasury within 60 days of the disbursement cycle.

Officials overseeing the operation have been directed to expedite the distribution process to ensure the timely provision of necessities. Furthermore, the PDMA has underscored the importance of transparency, ordering the concerned departments to maintain comprehensive records and provide detailed audit reports. This measure aims to guarantee that the relief reaches those in genuine need while upholding the provincial government’s standards for public accountability.
