Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted hot and sunny weather for most of the plains areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, which is likely to continue till May 10.

Today, the mercury in the southern districts of the province, including Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu, Karak, and Lakki Marwat, may reach 43 to 47 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in central areas like Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera is expected to remain at 39 to 43 degrees Celsius.

In view of this intensity of heat, the PDMA has put all district administrations and hospitals on high alert and has directed citizens to avoid exposure to the sun between 10 am and 5 pm and to consume water as much as possible.

The heat in the upper areas may accelerate the process of melting glaciers, which is being monitored. There is also a possibility of gusty and dusty winds, due to which citizens have been advised to exercise caution.
