The law and order situation in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has further deteriorated, where unidentified armed men set up a roadblock in broad daylight and kidnapped three personnel, including a senior officer of Rescue 1122.
Deputy Commissioner Tank Tanveer Ahmed has confirmed the incident. According to police sources, the incident took place near Safdar village under the limits of the SMA police station on Tank-DI Khan Road. Unknown armed men had set up a roadblock on the road, which stopped the Rescue 1122 team and took them hostage at gunpoint.
The identity of the kidnapped personnel was identified as Waqas Alam (Senior In-Charge, Rescue 1122), Muddathir (Clerk), and Iftikhar Driver. Sources say that the kidnappers kidnapped the rescue personnel along with their private Cultus vehicle and fled to an unknown location.
As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the spot. The police immediately cordoned off the area, and strict checks have been done on all entry and exit routes. Police sources say that a large-scale search operation has been launched in Safdar village and the surrounding areas to safely recover the kidnapped persons.
Fear and panic have spread in the area after this sensitive incident, while there is also serious concern among the Rescue 1122 staff. The administration says that it is using all resources to recover the personnel as soon as possible.
