The new installment of financial assistance under the Benazir Income Support Program has been started in a phased manner, under which the quarterly stipend for deserving families has been increased from Rs 13,500 to Rs 19,500.

In this new phase, along with regular payments, children’s educational scholarships have also been included so that financial assistance to the poor can be made more effective.

According to the announcement issued by BISP, this payment process is starting from May 18, 2026, in which women whose wallet accounts were blocked till May 15 or who have not yet changed their accounts can receive the money from any authorized camp or agent in their district.

To check the eligibility and amount details under the program, the authorities have further activated the 8171 web portal and SMS service. Eligible individuals can send their CNIC number to 8171 without the dash in their mobile message box or visit the web portal to check their details.

The administration has clarified that 8171 is the only official number of the program and citizens have been warned not to believe messages or calls from any other number and not to pay any additional deduction or fee to any agent while collecting the amount.

BISP officials have directed all eligible women to carry their original CNICs with them while visiting the payment centres to ensure transparency. The government’s aim of this increase in the amount is to protect poor families from the effects of inflation and provide them with timely financial relief.

Instructions have also been issued to the payment centres established in all districts to provide all possible facilities to the beneficiaries and immediate action will be taken in case of any kind of corruption or illegal deduction.
