A delegation led by Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman met with IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed and discussed with IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about the martyrdom of Maulana Sheikh Idrees in a tragic incident today and demanded the immediate arrest of his killers.
The IGP expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of Maulana Sheikh Idrees and offered his condolences to the delegation. The IGP informed the delegation about the investigation so far. He said that within a few minutes of the incident, police and counter-terrorism teams had reached the scene and have started a solid investigation by collecting shell casings, CCTV footage and other relevant evidence from the spot.
The provincial police chief reiterated his resolve that the killers of the renowned religious scholar will be brought to justice as soon as possible, for which special teams have been formed. He said that religious scholars are our pride and no effort will be spared to protect them.
It should be noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police personnel assigned to protect Maulana Sahib but they were also targeted in today’s incident.
