The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken an important step to provide relief to farmers and ensure food security in the province by directly purchasing 225,000 tons of wheat this year.

The government’s decision aims to provide farmers with adequate compensation for their hard work and keep wheat and flour prices stable in the market. According to the government announcement, special steps have been taken to make the wheat procurement process transparent and easy. In this regard, it has been decided that after purchasing wheat from farmers, their payments will be made completely in cash within just 24 hours so that farmers can get immediate financial assistance and they can prepare for future crops in a better way.

The provincial government has also prepared a strategy to fully fill all government warehouses to ensure ample stocks of wheat. The aim of this measure is to maintain uninterrupted supply of wheat throughout the year, prevent artificial shortages in the market and keep prices affordable for the public.

According to officials, under this policy, availability of wheat flour will be ensured for the common citizens. Government sources say that the measures taken before Ramadan had yielded positive results, due to which the prices of wheat and flour were significantly reduced.

The effects of these measures were felt not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in other provinces, which provided considerable relief to the public.
