PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued a formal notification outlining the responsibilities of Resident Inspectors to ensure transparency and proper conduct during the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams. The decision comes after a high-level meeting held on April 22, 2026, chaired by the provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education.
According to the issued notification, the Resident Inspector will be appointed by the head of the relevant educational institution or an officer designated by them. The Resident Inspector will be fully responsible for the management and oversight of the exam process during its entirety.
These orders will come into force immediately and shall apply to all educational boards, schools, colleges, and other examination centres in the province.
As per the notification, the Resident Inspector should make sure to be present in the institute throughout the period of each examination, without any other responsibility affecting the process. One of the major duties assigned to the Resident Inspector is to set up screening and security measures for the candidates to avoid cheating in the exams.
Additionally, the Resident Inspector will be required to make appropriate arrangements for the accommodation of the examination staff, meals, and basic amenities for students, such as seating arrangements, furniture, electricity, potable water supply, sanitation, and working washrooms in closed halls.
In case there is any problem outside the purview of the Resident Inspector, he/she will be obliged to immediately inform the concerned educational board regarding the problem. Coordination with local authorities will also be one of the key responsibilities of the inspector to maintain discipline and security throughout the duration of examinations.
For performing their assigned responsibilities, the Resident Inspector will be provided with an honorarium of Rs. 1,000 per paper per day. If there is no inspector on duty, the person nominated by him/her will perform his/her responsibilities.
