WASHINGTON: The White House has confirmed that Vice President JD Vance will lead the US delegation in the second round of negotiations with Iran. The talks, which are expected to take place in Islamabad are generating significant diplomatic activity as preparations intensify in the federal capital.

According to the foreign media, the American delegation will comprise special representative Steve Vitkoff and Jared Kushner, the President’s son-in-law, besides Vice President JD Vance. The president earlier announced that the delegates would be coming to Islamabad to hold talks with Iran, though he did not disclose further information concerning the delegation.

President Trump in a statement, optimistically stated that he was achieving a peace accord saying, “We’ve made Iran a very good offer, and I believe we’re getting close to an agreement. But if not, then we don’t want to be soft, we’ll bomb its power plants and its bridges.”

It was earlier reported that Vice President Vance was not supposed to attend the meetings at first because of the difficulty he faced in terms of security arrangements for such visits.

President Trump confirms arrival of US delegation to Pakistan

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that his representatives will travel to Islamabad tomorrow for discussions.

He confirmed that a delegation is being sent to Pakistan for the negotiation process and will take part in the upcoming talks.

President Trump stated that Iran has seriously violated the ceasefire; however, despite this, the U.S. is moving closer to reaching an agreement with Iran. He expressed confidence that an agreement will be achieved between the two countries, whether amicably or under strict conditions.

Trump added that the U.S. is making a fair and acceptable offer to Iran and is hopeful that Tehran will accept it. He emphasised that the goal of the talks in Pakistan is to promote stability and reduce tensions in the region.
