KHYBER (Haroon Shinwar): The District Police Officer (DPO) of Khyber has suspended three police personnel with immediate effect following allegations of corruption and bribery involving Afghan refugees.
According to an official notification, the suspended officers—identified as Haroon, Musharraf, and Muhammad Rahim—were stationed at the Ali Masjid police station. They have been directed to report immediately to the Police Lines Khyber.
Officials stated that a formal charge sheet and specific details regarding the allegations against the three officers will be issued separately. Sources indicated that the disciplinary action was prompted by public complaints alleging that the officers were extorting large sums of money from Afghan refugees in the process of returning to their home country. The move reportedly follows strict instructions from the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who took notice of the reported misconduct.
Confirming the suspensions, PK-71 spokesperson Mohibullah Afridi said that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption or bribery during the repatriation of Afghan refugees. He stated that strict measures will continue against any elements involved in such practices, adding that the administration takes public grievances seriously and remains committed to ensuring transparency in all official processes.
