A Pakistani military contingent has arrived at the King Abdulaziz Air Base under a joint strategic defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Ministry of Defence announced.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the ministry said the contingent includes fighter and support aircraft from the Pakistan Air Force.
According to the statement, the deployment aims to strengthen military coordination between the armed forces of the two countries and enhance operational readiness, while contributing to regional and international security and stability.
Officials said the move comes under the joint strategic defence pact signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in September last year.
The agreement, reached during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the kingdom, has been described as one of the most significant developments in decades of defence cooperation between the two countries.
Under the strategic mutual defence arrangement, any external aggression against one country would be considered an aggression against both, reflecting the deepening security partnership between Islamabad and Riyadh.
